Subject: Saturday launch is a GO!
The NOTRA Research launch scheduled on Saturday, June 15th is a GO!
The weather forecast is for a high temp of 75º F, winds from the N at 6-8 mph, and 10% cloud cover. The cloud deck will be at 25K feet at 11AM . The chance of rain is only 1%. Bring water and sunscreen.
The launch will be held from 11AM until 5PM.
There will be a $10.00 Range fee for high-power fliers. Low-power fliers pay just $5.00. Families pay just $5.00.
You don’t have to be a TRA, NAR, NOTRA or Skybusters member to fly model rockets as a guest.
This will be a NOTRA Research launch and conducted under the Tripoli Rocketry Association Unfified Safety Code. All Tripoli and NAR members are welcome to fly as both Commercial and Research motors can be flown up to the individual members certification level. You must be at least a TRA L2 to fly Research motors. TRA members may also fly uncertified commercial motors or motors that have had their certification expire. The waiver altitude is 4800 feet.
It is suggested that you fly either dual-deploy, or with a Chute Release, and use a tracker or beeper in your rocket.
You must be at least a TRA L2 to fly Research motors. TRA members may also fly uncertified commercial motors or motors that have had their certification expire. There is an L motor limit.
We will have two high-power pads set up with 3/8” and 7/16”rods along with 1” & 1.5” rails. The Skybusters 6-pad model rocket rack will be set up with 1/8”, 3/16” and ¼” rods. There will also be two pads set up halfway to the high-power pads with a 1/4″ rod and a 1010 rail for E-G motors.
Please consider arriving a bit early and staying after the launch to help with set-up and tear down. And please bring bags for any trash you might generate during the launch. Trash containers will be set up at the launch pads and range head.
There will be a Porta-Potty at this launch this season. However there will be no food or motor vendors on site.
Any Tripoli member who wishes to do a TRA certification flight or take the Level 2 certification test please contact me beforehand. Motors for a L1 certification flight can be obtained from me. NAR certification flights can also be done.
